No long track and no servo. Everything sits in one spot. You measure by hand, show the part to one camera, read the decision, then place the part in its tray by hand. Record one part at a time.
Electronics (not needed for this video)
Nothing to wire
For this video you do not build the breadboard at all. The "sorting" is you placing the part in the right tray. You still film the whole story: measure, show, decide, route.
- One camera and the digital caliper.
- Three trays labeled PASS / HOLD / REJECT.
Later, if you get a servo
A servo diverter is an optional upgrade, not needed for the video. If you add one later, the full hole-by-hole wiring and the Power MB V2 setup are in physical_build_guide.html, and the firmware is firmware/manual_sorter/esp32_manual_sorter.ino.
What to print and have on the table
| item | need | notes |
|---|---|---|
| Specimens | required | The one-file plate examples/cad/formlabs/qualityrelay_specimen_plate.stl (or the individual STLs). You need a good pair, a tight pair, an anomaly part, and a defect pair. |
| Digital caliper | required | You read it by hand. |
| One camera | required | Phone or webcam on a small stand or stack of books. It films the caliper display and the part. |
| Laptop | required | Shows the decision. The run log is docs/engineering/templates/manual_track_run_log.csv. |
| 3 trays + labels | required | Small boxes or lids: PASS, HOLD, REJECT. |
| Dark mat + lamp | recommended | Dark paper under the SHOW square; one steady lamp. |
| ESP32 / servo / breadboard | not needed | No servo in this version. Optional later upgrade; see the full build guide. |
| Printed swivel chute / tower | not needed | Those are for the real servo track, not the tabletop video. |
Recording tips
- Lock the camera on its stand and do not move it between parts, so every clip lines up.
- One continuous take per part: place, measure aloud, show to camera, read the decision, place in the tray.
- Say the three caliper numbers out loud; it makes the measurement legible on film.
- Keep a visible caption like "manual walkthrough — part moved by hand". It keeps the demo honest and still shows the full decision flow.
- Fill one row of the run log per part as you go; film the log too.
- Record the good part first (clean PASS), then tight (HOLD), then anomaly and defect (REJECT). Judges follow the escalation easily.
Log the measurements to CSV: measurement_logger.html. Full build if you later want the real line: physical_build_guide.html · manual_track_visualizer.html
